Youth to the People
I’m not going to lie, when I first looked up Youth to the People, I did not want to like their products because of price points. However, gradually the price point becomes reasonable as you learn about the company and try the products. This company holds themself to a high standard.
A quick look at the ingredient list, you will see nutrient full superfoods like kale, spinach, and green tea. They use materials that are biodegradable and won’t harm the ocean. Their beautiful glass jars are reusable for other purposes. If you look at their social media, they consistently use their platform to speak out against injustices. They praise diversity and inclusivity. Lastly and most importantly, all of their products are 100% cruelty-free and vegan.
So, yes this company is expensive, but there is value in their products and you get to support a company that doesn’t compromise on their values.
To dip my toes in the water of Youth to the People, I decided to buy a bundle kit. This kit included mini versions of everything I wanted to try. Including
– Adaptogen Deep Cream Moisturizer
Using Youth to the People for the first time felt luxurious. My skin felt the value in the money I had spent. Each product was thick, creamy, and dreamy. It was worth every penny and I was hooked. Before my minis ran out, I jumped into the deep end and purchased the full-size versions of the kit and more. At the point of writing this, I have been using their products for almost 3 months.
Let’s dig into all the products.
Superfood Cleanser 8oz – $36
This cleanser feels gentle on your skin but packs a powerful clean without stripping the skin. It starts out as a gel but quickly begins to foam when you add water. It has a light clean scent but this comes from all-natural fragrances. It is packed with kale, which is full of vitamins C, E, and K. Ingredients also include spinach which is moisturizing and green tea for anti-inflammatory properties.
Kombucha Toner 4oz – $38
Honestly, at the time of purchase, I was afraid of toners. After a stint of unknowingly overusing toners and dealing with irritated skin, I just thought toners were not for me. Surprisingly, this toner left my skin moisturized and plump. I followed the instructions and only used it 3x a week. After a few months of use, I now love how glowing it leaves my skin.
Kombucha is great for balancing the skin’s microbiome. This toner also has ginger, which helps to improve skin texture. All of its powerful ingredients work to reverse skin damage.
The next two products are my favorites…
Adaptagen Deep Moisturizer 2.0oz – $58 & Dream Mask 2.0oz – $48
These are simply put, the best damn moisturizers I have ever used. Literally, if I am stranded on an island and could only have one skincare item I would look at these two.
I suffer from dry skin and my lovely eczema likes to take residence on my face as if the rest of my body isn’t enough. However, consistent use of the moisturizer has kept my dry skin in check, Flaky Skin? I don’t know her. They both leave my skin hydrated all day. Long gone are the days where I have to run to the bathroom to moisturize in the middle of the day.
The adaptogen Cream is made with Squalene, jojoba, and shea butter. While the dream mask has super berries like Acai, Maqui, Goji Berry, and prickly pear. All sustainably sourced of course.
Although I am a big fan of the brand, not all of the products were a hit.
The Superfood Firm & Brightening Serum 1oz – $62
This serum left me disappointed and underwhelmed. It has Vitamin C in it but after doing some digging, it only has a concentration of 6%. This is fairly low considering a good vitamin c is between 10 and 20 perfect. I did not see any of the results you’d expect from a vitamin c like decreasing the appearance of hyperpigmentation and brightening the skin. At a price point of $62, I need to see results. This was the most expensive, but least effective vitamin c serum I own. On the upside, It does have lactic acid and hyaluronic acid and I felt it was moisturizing and firming.
Yerba Mate Resufacing Energy Facial 2oz $54
When I purchased this facial, it had recently launched. I brought into the hype and purchased something expensive that I really didn’t need. This is a microdermabrasion facial that breaks down dead skin and energizes. It works to make skin look softer and feel smoother. It has papaya and pineapple enzymes, micro pieces of bamboo, and caffeinated yerba mate. All in all, it is bundled with amazing ingredients but it was way too abrasive for me. It felt like rubbing sandpaper on my skin. Unfortunately, this was some expensive sandpaper.
Although I did not enjoy the last two products, other people have given them great reviews. What works for one person isn’t going to work for everybody. Youth to the People has won me over and I don’t mind dropping my hard-earned coins on them. I look forward to glowing with them in the future.
